WHY THIS SHOULD HAPPEN: MONEY IN THE BANK PPV = NEW KING OF THE RING

Or Survival of the Fittest, to be a little more accurate.

MONEY IN THE BANK
AS A ONE NIGHT TOURNAMENT

Having Money In The Bank as it's own event is a great idea. WrestleMania will still do fine without it (er... assuming they don't have two MITBs a year, which would be stupid) and we get another BIG event to look forward to later in the year.

I just hope it works something like this:

You book the event so it will feature your six qualifying matches (3 RAW, 3 SD!) - the winners of which will go on to the MITB Main Event later that night. You could also have a special attraction match of some kind as the semi-Main Event, to give the guys pulling double duty a rest before the ladder match. So, exactly like Survival of the Fittest.

If you wanted, you could also have an 8-man MITB, with two qualifying matches happening on TV - and you could sell those by saying the winners will almost be getting a "bye" since they will only have to wrestle once on the night of the PPV.

The only problem I can see with it is this: the Money in the Bank match has always been for guys on the cusp of the main event. If the MITB PPV is centered entirely around the MITB itself, we either get the main eventers not appearing on the show or main eventers appearing in the match itself.

So instead of having Kofi Kingston, Christian, Shelton Benjamin, John Morrison, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, etc... we get a MITB of Triple H, John Cena, Batista... etc.

I can't see that happening though. I hope.

The perfect scenario would be six qualifiers (or just four with two on TV), one (or two if necessary) special attraction/World Title matches, then the MITB match itself.

I've gone on long enough. I'm about to watch Survival of the Fittest 2009 for more inspiration. And to get my hopes up super-high, so when WWE announces that the MITB PPV will be 3 MITB matches, I'll stick my head in the oven.

I miss the idea of one night tournaments, and this seems like the closest we'll get with the WWE.

Money In The Bank PPV as The New King of the Ring Survival of the Fittest. This should happen.
