first i wanna say that for a long time wrestling fan like me (trey) its cool to see how these legends got into the biz, for example it was cool to see how john cena used to wrestle for smackdown.
great match listing to, with great matches like john cena vs. randy orton from raw and john cena vs. randy orton frmo a different raw all great matches. ***3/4
Edit: Okay, I'm going to have to take over from here. Trey is new here and I'll need to work with him on some (most) things. Thanks Trey for giving it a shot - everyone hit up his tripod site, I think he's just finding out about Twitter but I'm sure he has a Tout, so look him up there.
Anyway, I'm impressed that the WWE is taking this Orton/Cena TLC match so seriously that they made a Greatest Rivalries DVD in time for the PPV. It's 102 discs (these guys have faced each other a lot) so I might not get through the whole thing, but here we go:
This, I believe, is their first ever match. It is (you guessed it) NOT GOOD.
Unbelievably, the interview before the match reveals that John Cena has always been combining goofy impressions and references with maniacal screaming in his promos. Also, Randy Orton calls Jim Cornette "Jimmy" a number of times.
John Cena's entrance music is Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song. The match gets a small boring chant. Cena takes a DDT and comedy sells it by getting up and falling back down again. Jim Cornette is constantly mentioning Nidia on commentary, which is a weird turn of events where for once the announcers can't stop talking about a diva during a John Cena match.
This was bad. But it'll get better. On to the sit down interview.
Lots of giggling and bad jokes from Cena and Cole who talk about how great of friends they are. Orton idly tugs at his pants, as if he's never seen them before. They touch on how fun wrestling is when you're always the champ and the best, then they all share a bizarre knowing laugh. This is too weird, I'm gonna skip a few discs ahead.
There are a ton of promos on this set. This one highlights how John Cena thinks Randy Orton is gay, and Ron Simmons shows up to really hammer it home. Wait, there has to be better promos on here. Okay what about this one: John Cena and Randy Orton are friends, PROOF!
