MY FAVOURITE MATCH OF RIGHT NOW: KINGS OF WRESTLING V. TAKAYAMA/ SANO

Normally I leave the puro stuff to my buddy Steve over at Burning Spirit, but since he's taken an indefinite leave of absence from blogging about Japanese wrestling in a non-elitist "KENTA sucks because he doesn't sell DERP" kind of way, I'm going to take the reins on this one.

I just finished watching Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli pretty much DOMINATE the GHC Tag Champs for three quarters of this match. There are a ton of highlights, from a running, diving, corner moonsault from Hero, to pretty much every exchange between Takayama and Claudio (that Ricola bomb will give you a hernia just from watching it - and don't even get me started on the knee Claudio takes to the stomach. I barfed.).

Even if you're strictly a fan of North American style wrestling, or just WWE, or even just TNA (those people can't exist for real, can they) you should give this match a peek and see what you're missing.

I'M GOING AWAY TO FIND MY SMILE (FOR LIKE A WEEK)

Well there's uh, one thing about me is I can't do anything halfway and I, and I come here and I hear the people and they chant uh, TH's name or they chant Steve's name or they chant a lot of people's names, and one thing's for sure, you're going to have all of that in the future, um, and that's what I want for PIZZABODYSLAM fans. In spite of, uh, what people may think about me, what I've always wanted for all these people is, is for them to have a good time reading my blog and to enjoy themselves. I've always tried to be the one to provide it whether it was on the funny side or the smarky side. But what was always important to me was the writing, was the writing so that these people, each time they reached into their bookmarks, they clicked on my name, they didn't regret it because they knew that if they saw my name in the URL they could laugh, they could sit and agree or disagree and they could do whatever they wanted as long as they had a good time.

I know we're in the middle of a time where opinionated writing is real big here in the IWC, and unfortunately all I've got right now for you is a lot of sorrow, a lot of tears, and a lot of emotion. I don't have any opinionated writing for anybody, so I guess, here you go, here's your blog (hands blog over to Vince).

And I have you to thank, and I have everybody here to thanks, and it means a lot to me and, uh, I'm gonna go to my cottage now. Okay? (hugs Vince and Gorilla Monsoon).

Guys, never fear. I'll find my smile. In like a week. Just going to a cottage, as you may have guessed from my Shawn Michaels' speech. Funnily enough, I got the idea to write this absurd smile-losing speech about going away for a week and thought it'd be funny if I used the exact wording that Shawn did, but I was too lazy to transcribe it myself and surely no one has actually already done that, right? WRONG - you can count on the internet for ANYTHING! Thanks to Forever Shawn for already transcribing this speech for some unknown reason.

I'll be gone until the 29th, but, in my place, as you may have noticed me mention on Twitter, I'll be scheduling tweets ahead of time. So I will be still active, but it'll be like a ghost or time travel or some crazy shit.

I love pre-scheduling tweets (thank you HootSuite!). It's ridiculously fun and I don't even know why. So I'll be tweeting old blogs and new thoughts and all kinds of stuff while I'm takin' 'er easy at the old cottage. It's good to know that I can still talk about wrestling on the internet while I'm half in the bag in a canoe somewhere. Science knows no bounds!

So no new content on the blog for about a week, but plenty of tweets and reblogs and fake reactions to what's going on on RAW or whatever show, all from my Twitter feed.

Vince McMahon: Ladies and gentlemen... SHAWN MICHAELS PIZZABODYSLAM!!

JR: Well I'll tell ya folks, 25 years I've been doing this and I... I've never, I have never had the pain in my gut that I have right now. Good luck to you. Good luck to you.

A NOVEL IDEA: WRESTLING BOOK CLUB (STARRING BURNING SPIRIT)

lolpuns

Remember when I told you (yes you!) to follow my best bud (hi steve) Burning Spirit on Tumblr? Well he's back from the dead. After a few months of inactivity, he's hopped back on the old blog trolley and brought a great idea with him.

What if, you take the concept of a book club (where a group of people all read the same book and get together to discuss it) and apply it to wrestling? It would begin with one person suggesting a match, everybody would watch it, then say whatever it is they want to say about, and then someone new would suggest a match and the process would repeat. Read Steve's blog to get a better understanding of what I'm talking about, as he wrote it in a very drunk and enthusiastic manner.

I think it'll be a ton of fun, especially if we get a good group of fellers, and keep it loose and casual. I propose the name Wrestling MatchBook Club. Y'know, cause it's not a book club, it's a match club, but Wrestling Match Club sounds totally wack, but it's like a pun if you say MatchBook, but it also doesn't really make sense, it sounded better in my head FORGET IT.

Anyway, go over to Burning Spirit, read the latest post about Vader VS. Inoki and tell me what you think about this idea. GOGOGO.

KENTA VS. MARUFUJI WITHOUT ANY ACTUAL MOVES

Remember how I kindly asked (demanded) you to follow the (potentially) only puro Tumblr out there, Burning Spirit? This is why.

Click the video to be taken to the original post, complete with a write-up explaining it.

SO... DARREN YOUNG AND JOHN CENA

Thanks to Steve and French for putting these together (full credit to Steve for the John Cena blackface one at the end. You can send your hate mail to him at Burning Spirit!).

I picture these guys as when Polkaroo would show up, but one of the two hosts of Polka Dot Door would disappear, then magically show up after Polkaroo had left.

We haven't seen John Cena and Darren Young in the same place, have we? I definitely expect Cena to come out after a segment on NXT with bits of make-up still smudged on his face, and he's wearing that gold headband over top of his orange hat, and it's like the scene in Mrs. Doubtfire at the restaurant where he/she gets drunk and starts accidentally revealing to his/her family that she isn't an old female nanny (Darren Young) but he is their heroic dad (John Cena).

YOU NEED TO FOLLOW THIS: BURNING SPIRIT TUMBLR

And not just because he's my bestest bud.

My pal Steve (who I've mentioned countless times on this blog, and I have definitely ripped off funny things he's said and posted it like they were my own words, because I am a Ken Anderson bona fide asshole) has just started up what will be the only Japanese wrestling tumblr/blog in English that doesn't treat you like an idiot for not knowing enough about Puro.

Check out his first post, which talks about exactly that.

So if you're into Japanese wrestling (or ANY wrestling for that matter) feel free to bookmark his site and get all of your Puro needs from Burning Spirit, because you won't be scared off by elitist wrestling fans there.
