NEWS 2009: TNA GETS BALLS

TNA VS. WWE
It may fail in the long run and we may never see a time when it's TNA vs. WWE week after week... but for one night only, people will be jumping back and forth between two live wrestling shows... and I am excited.
It took some big balls to step up and be all like "hey, me and Hulk Hogan are coming after you brother(s)!" And I appreciate that. Because TNA are setting themselves up here. Everyone knows they could post the shittiest rating, and WWE can just laugh and roll around in their piles of money and wristbands of different colours.
But at least someone took a swing, right?
I'm looking forward to going back and forth between the two shows, and I legitimately think it'll be one of the more exciting Monday nights in a long time for wrestling fans.

Not much of an answer from WWE yet.
I know I'll be watching TNA for the first hour, and see how things go from there. I'm a huge Bret Hart mark, so I'll need to tune into RAW too.
But if you have HDNet, you're in even more of a pickle.

STARS, NEWS, FEUDS 2009: CM PUNK AND JEFF HARDY HIGHS AND LOWS
That's the best way I can sum up 2009 for these two. Pun not intended.
CM PUNK
HIGHS
- Kicked off 2009 by winning the Intercontinental Title, making him a Triple Crown Champion. Punk won all three titles within 228 days, only four days shy of the fastest-ever Triple Crown Champion... uh, Diesel.
- Won the Money in the Bank Ladder Match for the second year in a row at WrestleMania XXV.
- Was pushed to the main event after being drafted to Smackdown!
- Cashed in his MITB contract on new World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy, thus starting the best slow-burn heel turn in recent memory.
- Had the feud of the year with Jeff Hardy over the World Heavyweight Championship, eventually winning the title for a third time
- Was proven to be so good on the mic, that even without a feud he could remain the most over heel on Smackdown by feuding with the fans
JEFF HARDY
HIGHS
- Entered 2009 as WWE Champion
- Was the most over face consistently for the majority of the year
- Won the World Heavyweight Title twice
- Had the feud of the year with CM Punk
- Put on entertaining main event matches all year with Punk. Edge and his brother Matt
CM PUNK
LOWS
- Squashed in the opening match of WWE Hell in a Cell, dropping the title to Undertaker
- Feud with Undertaker never got the blow off it deserved
- Was left without a feud after Undertaker took the belt
- Feuded with R-Truth and Scott Armstrong
JEFF HARDY
LOWS
- Was denied a WrestleMania WWE Title match when he dropped the belt to Edge to feud with his freshly turned brother Matt. What made this seem even more underwhelming, is that everyone suspected that Christian was behind Jeff Hardy's "accidents," but it ended up being Matt Hardy, which could've been (speculation) because word got out that Christian was returning. Frig.
- His feud with Punk touched on Hardy's drug-related past, which was amazing. Until Jeff left, only to be charged with drug trafficking.
CM PUNK VS. JEFF HARDY
WWE FEUD OF THE YEAR
While they weren't really up against anything else (HHH/Orton didn't deliver, Cena/Orton was hit and miss, Jericho/Rey was a close second), this feud nailed every aspect of a good feud, and felt fresh and exciting all at the same time.
So while Punk and Hardy had ups and downs all year long, their feud this summer made WWE worth catching every week:
NEWS 2009: ROH ON HDNET, ON GO FIGHT LIVE & ON THE RADAR
2009 has been a monumental year for Ring of Honor. While they may have had a more star-studded roster in years previous, and maybe style preferred by the more hardcore fans lost a step, but in the public eye, ROH has arrived.

ON HDNET
This year began with ROH making the huge announcement that they had signed a TV deal with HDNet, allowing them to show the world what they've got. While the shows started on shakey legs, they are now producing the greatest TV main events available in North America.
This past summer, ROH announced that "Pro Wrestling is Returning to Monday Nights," and moved ROH on HDNet to a Monday night 8:00 time slot, getting the lead-in for any wrestling fans already planning on staying in and watching RAW.

ON GO FIGHT LIVE
While ROH is no longer available to order on PPV (taped), they've just recently made the deal to allow fans to watch Final Battle 2009 live this month streaming on Go Fight Live, for a price that no other company can offer.

ON WWE'S RADAR
All of these steps have put ROH on the radar - not just for wrestling fans, but the WWE as well. Sure, the WWE has always known (or at least some people within the WWE have known, I assume) that ROH exists... but it was this year in particular that ROH began making it's biggest impact on the biggest wrestling company in the world:
- Bryan Danielson and Low Ki sign with the WWE
- CM Punk cements himself as a main event star
- Evan Bourne makes the move to RAW
- The Briscoes get a WWE tryout
- Davey Richards allegedly was contacted by the WWE
With Jim Cornette returning to help nurture an already strong weekly TV show, a new, cheap and easy way for fans to see ROH live on the internet, and a constantly growing profile, ROH is in for an exciting 2010.
Also, reading this back it sounds like a Ring of Honor commercial, but I guess I just let my fanboy colours show.
