WWE PPV PREDICTION GAME: ELIMINATION CHAMBER

Standings will be updated soon to reflect the Royal Rumble results. Post your picks in the comment section below.

WWE ELIMINATION CHAMBER (EVENT #9)
PICK DEADLINE: SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 20TH - 7:59:59 P.M. (EASTERN TIME)

There are five matches announced for Sunday. You have the numbers 1-5 to assign as confidence points to your picks - if your prediction is correct, you earn that number of points. You cannot use the same number twice. Any match added DURING the PPV will not count.

Also, with there being one open spot in the SmackDown Elimination Chamber match, if you can correctly predict who will replace Dolph Ziggler to fill that spot, you'll earn one bonus point.

And, just to be clear, you can predict the winner of the SmackDown Elimination Chamber match to just be "Dolph's replacement" or "the mystery entrant" or whatever. The bonus point is for correctly predicting who that'll be.

WWE ELIMINATION CHAMBER REV-- NO WAIT: THIS POST HAS BEEN HIJACKED!

Kinda like WWE PPV cards! Hey, I'm not complaining. WWE has conditioned me to expect zany outcomes on PPV, and last night didn't disappoint (in zaniness):

- 3 World Title changes!
- 3 Title Matches scheduled, 2 added on the fly, 1 postponed 'til who knows when!
- A guy who wasn't advertised as wrestling for the WWE Title walked out of the PPV with it!

And this was one of the less zany WWE PPVs!

As for why this post is being hijacked, it's because I just saw this:

"Just announced: MONEY IN THE BANK Qualifying Matches will begin TONIGHT on Raw. Watch LIVE at 9/8 CT on @USA_Network!! #WWE"

So, we can take a few things from this:

1) Money In The Bank is happening TWICE this year
2) There will be some serious shenanigans where the qualifiers are postponed, or the winners go on to fight at the PPV this summer (which would be like a 7 month build, so don't expect this).
3) The Money In The Bank winner will defend his briefcase in a second MITB match in the summer or some crazy shit
4) I don't know
5) They don't know either (likely)

Now that I've covered this business, and discovered that RAW should be a decent program tonight (until my brain remembers that Jewel and her Z-list celebrity husband are in charge), on to a like/didn't like review of last night's show:

WWE ELIMINATION CHAMBER REVIEW
LIKE: CHRIS JERICHO | DIDN'T LIKE: MICHAEL COLE

LIKED
- The action-entertainment drama of the Elimination Chamber matches. From the anticipation of who would be in the pods (lol pods) to who would come out of them first, it makes for good fun (and some hilarious shots of guys standing in a glass case of emotion).
- The Randy Orton/Ted DiBiase/Legacy feud taking another step forward. Loved Ted pinning Orton in his hometown.
- Orton gingerly throwing Cena over the top, essentially by the belt loop on his denim jorts.
- Sheamus selling Kofi's leg-kicks like they were setting his legs on fire. Can't tell if it was good selling or just hilarious.
- Drew McIntyre's badass new theme/entrance (I missed the SD that is debuted). He looks like Link. But Evil Link. So DARK LINK.
- All of the Daniel Bryan talk on the PPV. So much. And so, so good. Miz's interview rocked, and MVP even stepped it up for the paying customers.
- Big Show acting as annoying as Miz. His face annoys me so goddamn much. That big ugly bastard.
- CM Punk bringing his sermon all the way into the Chamber.
- The WHC Chamber Match, I thought, was the better of the two. Complete with Jericho hiding in a pod, which was so awesomely funny. And he's the champ! Jericho as the Champion = great television. It's axiomatic.
- Undertaker nearly catching on fire (WALKING THROUGH HELLFIREANDBRIMSTONE) and getting so pissed that I was scared he was going to actually murder someone once he got out of his pod.
- Shawn kicking Taker's face out of his face.

DIDN'T LIKE
- John Cena scoring an 8th World Title reign, only to hand it to Batista, only to (future obvious spoilers) win it back (9x) at Mania. These thirty second reigns are what make the WWE what it is now - ZANY.
- All of the changes to the card. I guess there were only two (barring Batista's impromptu title shot), but I was excited to see the Divas Title Tournament Finals, and announcing during the PPV that Miz will defend his belt against MVP on PPV, is stupid, considering it just happened last month. Sure, MVP pinned Miz, but it was in a tag match, so wouldn't you assume that should lead to a Tag Title shot? I hate when logic stares you right in the face, and it's ignored like that.
- Miz vs. MVP. The match was so slow, and so full of sloppy MVP wrestling. Am I the only one that thinks MVP looks tired and slow in every match he has?
- Recaps on PPV. I like hype videos and stuff... but recapping Bret/Vince, or what happened earlier in the night (who tunes into a PPV halfway through to need a recap from earlier in the night?) come off as super-obvious filler.
- Punk getting eliminated so early. But that's just because I have a total crush on him.
- Michael Cole.

With the MITB Qualifiers, Shawn/Taker business, Edge choosing his 'Mania opponent, the Batista/Cena confrontation (yes I'm actually into it), and Jewel and Cowboy Whoever tearing it up on the mic (fml), it should be a half-decent show!

If my life was a movie this is the part where it would cut to me four hours from now crying in a fit of rage after a terrible RAW, because I always seem to get excited for shows and have the rug pulled out from under me.

No more complaining! I'll just watch the show and hopefully have a good time. Or at the very least Jewel will botch someone's name and I'll laugh myself off the couch.

ROAD TO WRESTLEMANIA XXVI: THE HOME STRETCH

Beginning with this Sunday's Elimination Chamber, here are my final predictions going into WRASSLEMANIA XXVI.

WWE ELIMINATION CHAMBER
WITH FOUR MATCHES - AND PROBABLY AN HOUR'S WORTH OF BACKSTAGE SEGMENTS!

Predictions include confidence points. Confidence points are used by assigning a number to each prediction. The higher the number, the more confident you are in your pick - but you can only use each number once. With only four matches, you use the numbers 1-4. If your prediction is correct, you get as many points as you bet.

HERE WE GO:

DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP
MARYSE VS. GAIL KIM

Maryse def. Gail Kim to win the vacant Divas Championship (3)
- Super short
- Maryse speaks some sassy french at some point

INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
DREW MCINTYRE VS. KANE

Drew McIntyre def. Kane to retain his Intercontinental Championship (1)
- VIA EVIL CHEATING TACTICS
- John Morrison makes some kind of appearance after being removed from the Chamber match due to injury. Drew and John cross paths in a backstage segment before the match.

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP ELIMINATION CHAMBER
UNDERTAKER VS. CM PUNK VS. CHRIS JERICHO VS. R-TRUTH VS. REY MYSTERIO VS. JOHN MORRISON

BATISTA wins to become World Heavyweight Champion (2)
- That's right. Here goes nothing. I'm diving head first into what I've been predicting all along. Not because it makes sense. But because it's the WWE and they're crazy.
- I think they're 100% swerving us. Everyone expects Shawn Michaels to replace the injured Morrison in order to screw Undertaker out of his title and set up HBK/Taker II (V, actually). BUT, I think Batista will take that spot and win, setting up Batista/Cena II - FOR BOTH TITLES. Even though that is crazy.
- Mario, from the POW/GSB had a great idea in that Punk starts with Truth, eliminates him quickly, and spends the remainder of the five minutes cutting a promo. This would rule.

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP ELIMINATION CHAMBER
SHEAMUS VS. TRIPLE H VS. JOHN CENA VS. RANDY ORTON VS. KOFI KINGSTON VS. TED DIBIASE

John Cena wins to become WWE Champion (4)
- There's some serious fuck-ups between Ted and Orton, maybe even with Ted eliminating Orton.
- Shawn screws Trips.
- Cena wins, that way the next night on RAW, with Batista saying last week that he's coming THIS week, we have a champion vs. champion showdown.

So, with those predictions in mind...

WRESTLEMANIA 26
CARD PREDICTION!

MAIN EVENT - TITLE VS. TITLE
WWE Champion John Cena (with Bret "Hitman" Hart) vs. World Heavyweight Champion Batista (with Vince McMahon)
- Complete with Bret in a wheelchair due to brok'd leg - and the moment (a la Linda McMahon) where he stands up to a huge reaction, and attacks Vince, finally applying that glorious Sharpshooter.

LADDER MATCH OF SOME KIND
"The Rated R Superstar" Edge vs. Chris Jericho
- with no MITB this year potentially, that opens up the possibility of a Ladder Match on the card - what better than Edge vs. Jericho? I uh, just don't know what they'd be climbing for...

DX IS NO MORE
"The Game" Triple H vs. "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels
- This match takes the place of Taker/Shawn last year, as it will be the one that tears the house down the most. Edge/Jericho will be awesome, but I think people will pop for this one the most.

LEGACY IS NO MORE
Randy Orton (with "Cowboy" Bob Orton) vs. Ted DiBiase (with "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase) vs. Cody Rhodes (with "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes)
- With Cody causing Orton to lose on a few occasions, and Ted eliminating Orton from the EC Match... only one thing can happen - a father/son triple threat match!

THE STREAK
Undertaker vs. Sheamus
- Not sure how the feud will start, could be as easy as Sheamus getting cocky and showing up on Smackdown to attack the Deadman.
- The match is sold on the fact that Sheamus beat John Cena when NOBODY thought he would - why wouldn't he be the one to beat Taker at Mania?

HAIR VS. MASK
CM Punk (with the Straight-Edge Society) vs. Rey Mysterio
- Will be amazing.
- Punk loses to have his head shaved, which will be one of the best things ever. Punk selling getting his head shaved while being held like he's on the cross will tear the house down.

UNIFIED TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Champions "ShoMiz" Big Show & The Miz (with NXT Rookie Daniel Bryan)
vs.
Challengers MVP & Mark Henry (with NXT Rookie Skip Sheffield)
- Not sure if Regal is replacing MVP for sure or not, but I think this would make total sense. Miz and MVP have been feuding for a while, and it'd be cool to add some extra parts to that feud - like their NXT Rooks, and their tag partners (plus it gives them that payday).

INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
John Morrison vs. Drew McIntyre
- This feud's been brewing for a while, and I think it'll be furthered at Elimination Chamber, building to a title match at Mania.

DIVAS BATTLE ROYAL FOR THE MISS WRESTLEMANIA CROWN
Michelle McCool vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James vs. Maryse vs. Gail Kim vs. Layla vs. Eve vs. Jillian vs. The Bellas vs. Melina vs. Maria vs. Katie Lea Burchill vs. Natalya vs. Whoever I missed
- This year I think they do it right, and it's an actual match that people might care about. No cameos really though.

This card still lacks Christian, Matt Hardy, Kofi Kingston, Kane (all who will end up on the card somehow, I'm sure) and Dolph Ziggler, Evan Bourne, Ezekiel Jackson, Zack Ryder, Yoshi Tatsu, William Regal, Jack Swagger, Hart Dynasty, Cryme Tyme, Carlito, Chris Masters, Chavo Guerrero, Primo, Santino Marella, Finlay, Mike Knox, R-Truth, The Great Khali, Shelton Benjamin, The Hurricane, Goldust, Vance Archer and MAYBE MORE - who will all have a harder time getting on the card without some kind of MITB or Battle Royal, even if it's pre-show thing.

So this card clearly has it's flaws, but I think what I've got up there could make up the bulk of the show - and a pretty enjoyable one at that.

PHEW!

So feel free to include your picks (with confidence points) for the Elimination Chamber tomorrow.

RAW PREVIEW 02/15/10:

I expect some wacky slapstick tonight!

TONIGHT'S GUEST HOST
JERRY SPRINGER

There's some potential in tonight's show, with Springer being a legit WWE fan, matches being advertised BEFORE the show begins (wow!), and this being the final show before Sunday's Elimination Chamber.

There is also potential for a spoof of Jerry's show, which could go either way (not funny or funny for all the wrong reasons).

CHAMBER PREVIEW MATCH
Triple H vs. John Cena
CHAMBER PREVIEW MATCH
WWE Champion Sheamus vs. Randy Orton
CHAMBER PREVIEW MATCH
Kofi Kingston vs. Ted DiBiase

SMACKDOWN! PREVIEW: CHAMBER QUALIFIERS - 02/05/10

Looks like a fine upstanding card based around wrestling once again - could this be the first solid week of WWE shows this year (or longer)?! I hope so!

SPOILER-FREE PREVIEW
ELIMINATION CHAMBER QUALIFYING MATCHES
John Morrison vs. Kane
R-Truth vs. Mike Knox
CM Punk vs. Batista
Chris Jericho vs. Matt Hardy
Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler
DIVAS TAG TEAM MATCH
Beth Phoenix & Mickie James vs. Michelle McCool & Layla
THE CUTTING EDGE
Tonight's guest: The Undertaker

Sounds like a show I could get drunk to and provide a silly review of.
